Yasmin Gilani is a London and Cotswold based artist specialising in abstract impressionist art. After graduating from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art with an MA in 2015, Yasmin went on to work for galleries and arts festivals in London. While always a part time artist, she decided to pursue her creative passion in a more hands on manner and committed to working as an artist full time. Since then she has exhibited on numerous occasions across London from Shoreditch to St James. In 2019 she was selected as a reserve artist for Sky Portrait Artist of the Year and in 2020 she finally graced the TV screens by becoming a contestant on the show.
Yasmin’s aim is not to produce reality but rather explore the relationship of colour, movement and texture and examine how they interact and complement each other. Her mediums include oil, acrylic and pastels. Whenever she feels indulgent she likes to use gold leaf.
Inspiration comes from the variety of colours and beauty found in nature and its ever changing design and seasons. Nature offers her a sense of calm and happiness and she hopes to translate it to her work and inspire a sense of calm and happiness to others.
